Each of the 8 units provides a literary text in a minibook format, covering a variety of fiction genres such as folk tale, poetry, fable, and realistic fiction, as well as easy-to-scaffold activities that include:
Vocabulary activity: Picture dictionary with content words and a "Words to Know" list
Reading comprehension activities: "I Read Closely," "I Read and Understand," and "I Tell the Story"
Oral close reading activity with questions to help guide students in a discussion
Genre activity: such as "I Read a Fable"
